![]() I was born on April 8th 1954 in Düsseldorf. In 1972 I joined the German Navy. 1973- 1977I studied Electrical Engineering at Hochschule der Bundeswehr Hamburg (now Helmut-Schmidt-University). I am an officer in the German Navy (Engineer and Logistician); at present with the "Logistikzentrum der Bundeswehr", Wilhelmshaven/ Germany . I have been married to Christiane since 1977. We have two sons. Artistic Work/ Artistic Training I have done photography since my youth. I took adult evening classes, did darkroom work and won prices in competitions. When I met my wife, back in 1975, I admired her drawings and watercolors and wished I could do such work, too, but never expected to be able to. In 2003 I happened to stumble over a book which taught drawing. I set it aside, not believing that I could succeed. A couple of weeks later, the desire to get the book drove me into town. The same day I started to draw (pencil), intensively, 10 to 15 hours per week, mainly self-taught, strongly supported by the book. Later on, pastels began to color the paper. Autumn 2005 I began to study acrylic painting, which consumed even more time. Summer 2006 I applied for and attended "Pentiment" summer-academy (Hamburg University of Applied Sciences) with Visiting Professor Anja Billing. Delving into non figurative painting in 2007 I started to get further training with Joerk Kalkreuter. Right now, being in the USA, photography called again for its own rights and time. What an abundance of sceneries, dramatic, subtle, overwhelming and tender…. With all my artistic work, my wife is my strongest supporter. I am happy and thankful for having been sent this way, including my time in the German Navy.
